U.F.L.'s- my story

I do not remember the exact date, but I believe it was the summer of 2004. I lived in a trailer court on Whidbey Island, in Oak Harbor Washington. One day after work, the sun had just set a few minutes before I went outside to smoke a cigarette. Our trailer was on the west end of the island, about a half mile from shore, and you could go outside and see the cars on Heller rd. go by, and you could see the ocean beyond the fields in that 1/2 mile distance.

I was just smoking my cigarette, standing in our lawn in front of the trailer as I was enjoying the color of the few clouds in the distance as dusk was rapidly approaching. The clouds I saw were probably in the neighborhood of a few hundred miles away, and the skies all around us were clear, except for a small fog-bank a little past the shoreline.

The fog was not unusual for Whidbey Island, which gets fog from time to time. The bank was probably about a quarter mile wide from the look of it, and when I was about half way done with my cigarette, then it happened.

Originating from somewhere inside the fog-bank I noticed a light. It began to blink, making me think it was a helicopter or airplane that maybe came in from behind the fog where I couldn't see it. But then there were multiple lights, similar to the lights on top of towers for visibility to incoming aircraft, and there were about 10 or 12 of them, flashing very eradically.

I was intrigued, so I lit up another cigarette. I stayed and watched these lights, staying inside this fog-bank, which by the way had not moved at all, and as I watched their blinking patterns changed from being eradic to having a very logical, systematic pattern. Then more of these lights appeared, now there seemed to be about 20 or more, I lost count, and honestly was not interested in the number, I just wanted to try and figure out how this was happening, and I realized that it had to be some experimental craft. But that was very strange as well, since our Navy Base only seemed to have obsolete and about to be replaced, P-3 Orions and EA-6B Intruders.

No way could what I was seeing be any of those. But I was pretty sure it was some hovering experimental craft, until the next thing happened. I realized the approximate size of the fog-bank, seeing as it was over a half mile away, and things in the sky do not seem further away than they really are, they seem closer than they really are. What that means is that our mind plays a trick on us because of the horizon and it's distance. So clouds and other objects can seem closer than they truely are. Our own Moon is an example of this, it can seem like it is bigger on the horizon than it is in the sky. (It seems CLOSER.)

So I realized that as far away as this fog-bank was, it was pretty big, and there is no way that any aircraft we have could be hovering in that cloud, and be that size, given the distance. Then suddenly, all the lights began blinking eradically again, then they stayed on for a few seconds and one light from the right end of the inside of the fog turned on, changed color, and moved from the right end of the fog to the other very fast, about 2 seconds. I nearly lost my cigarette.

Then the lights flashed in an organized manner again, then eradically, then the lights moving from one spot to another in the fog while the other lights stayed on and maintained their positions, this all happened for about 45 minutes. I was amazed. I only know one thing- man has nothing that was capable of reproducing what I saw that night, aside from CGI in film making. What was that? I will never look at the topic of U.F.O.'s the same again. I do not know what to believe. What about you?

What a wonderful and intriguing account. I love reading about these, but I wish I could experience them myself. Beautiful photos to accompany!

Thanks so much Glassvisage!

That was a very intriguing experience. The most shocking part was that it lasted for about 45 minutes. I even went inside for a moment and those lights were still doing their thing after I came back out. Ironically- when I finally got my roommate to come out to see, that is when they were gone. Coincidence? or no? Hmmmm....
