Is Acorn being treated fairly?

The situation with Acorn is fraught with emotions on both sides.  Acorn, a community organization group, has been under investigation for fraud and other illegal activity.  The most recent issues deal with a young man and his female assistant, both of whom video-taped sessions where they played a pimp and a prostitute in order to find out what the officials at the various Acorn Housing offices they visited, would do.  According to the videos, every single Acorn Office they visited made the attempt to help these two find housing for themselves, knowing that they were (supposedly) a pimp and a prostitute.  The Acorn representatives helped them by giving them ideas on how they could avoid authorities and gain housing, knowing this place would become a "brothel" after the two (supposed criminals) freely gave them all the information.  Not only were they themselves (again, supposedly) breaking the law with their professions, but they claimed there were a number of other young girls ready to live with them, all under 18, all committing illegal acts of prostitution.

The first problem many people have with this situation is the serious willingness of these Acorn officials to aid in criminal activity, knowing the laws that were supposedly being broken.  Not only did these Acorn representatives not report the two criminals, but they gave them ideas and tips on how to avoid the Authorities.  The second problem that many people have is that the two kids involved in this "undercover operation", did this with the intent of catching the Acorn Representatives in the act of breaking the law themselves by assisting known criminals.  (supposed criminals.)

So is Acorn being treated fairly- or should they be shut down completely as many suggest?  Personally, I do not condone the methods used against Acorn to "catch them in the act".  However, considering the nature of Acorn's operations, and considering the significant influence they had in the last election, I believe they need to be held accountable.  And interestingly these videos only hurts Acorn's reputation and future existence FURTHER, as there have already been charges against various Acorn branches before this, for VOTER REGISTRATION FRAUD.  In fact, literally tens of thousands of voter registration cards have been dismissed in 15 states alone, since officials discovered that Acorn was using former convicts as employers in violation of voter registration laws.   In addition there have been many more tens of thousands in several states that were rejected due to noticeable fraud.

So far the total count of fraudulent voter registration cards rejected, due to Acorn's involvement, was over 400,000 for this last election.  And now the Acorn Housing representatives aiding criminal activity, I think Acorn's time has come.  There have been far too many atrocities in this past election with the voter fraud, the Black Panthers arming themselves with guns, and baseball bats and intimidating people to vote for Obama, and now this fraud is discovered.  So is this what America has come to?  This is not a case of Glenn Beck's scare tactics- these facts are right there in the open and cannot be disputed.  The investigations are REAL.  The charges are REAL.  The thorough infestation of moral decay and corruption in this "organization" is REAL, and it has been PROVEN, and DOCUMENTED.  So America, what do we do about organizations like this that work outside the law to fulfill their own agendas?  What do we do about our own government- a corrupt institution in itself, when it's activities are no longer serving the American people, but BANKRUPTING our monetary system while greedy politicians horde HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS EACH into their own personal bank accounts while they bleed America and her economy dry?   Because what we are doing so far, is nowhere near enough.  If we do not stand together now, and try to figure out a solution to this madness, America and her Freedoms that our ancestors DIED FOR, will be lost.  Then, it will be too late to act.  So what do we do America?  -Derrik

Unfortunatly Acorns branches are everywhere. They may look like they are being dismatled, but it's just a slap on the hand. It will be years, before anything will be done about them, if ever. Good Hub!

The "Investigation" into ACORN is sadly just a formality. I doubt we have seen the end of their smarmy practices and creepy employees.
